Approach and objectives
Its fundamental objective is to offer quality information on inspiring projects and initiatives implemented in rural areas , across all productive and social sectors, as well as to bring together the opinions of individuals and organizations involved in their development, with the aim of fostering innovation and sustainability in agricultural and rural areas.
With this approach, it aims to appeal to people who live or work in rural and agricultural environments—professional farmers and livestock producers and professionals in the agri-food chain, but also to those who work in other sectors—and to the administrations and stakeholders working to revitalize the territory, by publishing articles that may be of interest to them.
Sections of the magazine
Each publication has fixed sections, which are the following:
- In-depth interview with a prominent figure from the publication's focus sectors.
- Various reports on agricultural and rural issues, etc. In addition, there will always be one focused on the topic of innovation.
- Editorial , where the PAC Network expresses its vision on a particular topic.
- Opinion from a key figure in the Spanish and European agricultural and rural world.
- Value Chain, referring to the agri-food sector.
- LEADER Initiatives , which focuses on Local Action Group ( LAG ) projects, focused on rural development.
- We Count , dedicated to successful projects developed by rural women.
- Youth Network , a section focused on projects that promote rural youth.
- Other short content includes reviews of books on environmental or agricultural topics, some notable news from the publication period, and In Images , a section with photographs of interesting and visually appealing projects.
First issue
This first issue of 'Savia Rural' includes an interview with the Minister of Agriculture, Luis Planas , who discusses the prospects for the new CAP and reviews the recent Spanish Presidency of the EU Council. It also includes an article by Christiane Lambert , President of the Committee of Professional Agricultural Organisations of the EU ( COPA ), expressing some of the concerns and expectations of the agricultural sector regarding the new CAP programming period.
In his various reports , we find articles on soil improvements associated with rotation with improving crops , onconservation agriculture (signed by the eponymous association, Suelos Vivos ) and on a farm in Zaragoza that is applying regenerative agriculture .
The "Value Chain" section first covers the European Moving project , led by the University of Córdoba. "LEADER Initiatives" is a joint project between the Local Action Groups and the Navarrese government to improve energy sustainability, while "We Count" features the master brewers of Bailandera in Bustarviejo (Madrid). "Young People Online" focuses on an association in Purchena (Almería). The report focusing on "Innovation" explores the technological improvement opportunities offered to agricultural holdings and processing industries by the digital innovation center La Vega Innova , part of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food .
