Cambio climático y gestión de recursos naturales

This will be the first in a series of forums organized by the National Institute of Agricultural Research (INIA) with the aim of facilitating contacts between research and the agri-food sector to promote innovation.

The forum on the challenges and needs of organic livestock farming, to be held on April 6, aims to provide a forum for dialogue between research teams from public institutions, the business sector, and other sector representatives. The ultimate goal is to promote collaboration and participation in joint projects, thus fostering research and technological innovation in the Spanish agri-food sector.

As established in Community regulations (Council Regulation (EC) 834/2007), organic production methods play a dual social role, providing, on the one hand, organic products to a specific market that responds to consumer demand and, on the other, public goods that contribute to environmental protection, animal welfare, and rural development. The conference will address various aspects of this form of production (feeding, health, welfare, management, breeds, profitability, quality) in relation to different livestock species and in different Spanish geographical regions.

The forum will feature representatives from the Spanish Society of Organic Agriculture (SEAE) and researchers from the Agriecol Network (Research Network on Organic Agriculture, Livestock, and Forestry).

The event will be held at the INIA (National Institute of Statistics and Census) in Madrid, in its Auditorium, Main Building (Ctra. de La Coruña, km 7.5). Registration is free, and RSVP is requested, given the limited capacity of the venue.

In the coming months, INIA will organize new forums on fertilization, sustainability indicators in the agricultural sector, new alternative and sustainable raw materials in food, and innovation in rural development.

All information about these forums, including topics, registration, programs, and conclusions is available on IniaPortal.
