The website's sole purpose is to provide information on employment and housing opportunities in different towns and cities across Spain. To this end, it offers job, housing, and transfer listings.
- The "Come live in a village" platform was created with the aim of providing advice on housing and employment in villages.
- The various administrations (Town Halls, Provincial Councils, Local Action Groups, etc.) have the possibility of subscribing to the website to report on their job and housing offers.
The “ platform that helps urbanites choose which town is worth living in, how and why .”
This is how "Come live in a village" is presented , a web platform that brings together several communication channels (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram), and whose sole mission is to inform about the employment and housing opportunities offered by different towns in Spain.
To this end, the platform offers a job, housing, and transfer listing service available—for a fee—to residents, businesses, and local governments (town councils, provincial councils, local action groups, etc.) so they can post ads for any product or service related to these listings.
The goal is to help those who want to work remotely, start a business, or take over a local business in the decision to move to a village.
Operation
The platform is designed to serve 5 very specific profiles of potential residents:
- Urban people who want to work remotely.
- People who want to move from urban to rural areas in search of a different lifestyle.
- People looking for a second home in rural areas.
- People from other countries who work in rural areas.
- Young people who want to emancipate themselves.
The job and housing listings are available to anyone who wishes to upload content, for which they must register as a user and pay a small fee. From there, users will see information sheets created that answer the most common questions for those looking to relocate to a specific location: what healthcare and education services are available, how much housing costs, and what job openings there are in the municipality. In addition, users can view a 17-minute video that provides potential residents with all the available information about the location they are looking for a new home in.
“Come live in a village” is a project developed by journalist Ramón Pradera during the pandemic.
Participants
There are already examples of rural towns affiliated with the platform, such as Cangas del Narcea (Asturias), whose City Council has joined the platform not only to offer all the housing and job vacancies available in the town on the website, but also to make them available to all residents who need them.
Begoña Cueto Blanco, Councilor for Local Development, Tourism, Finance, and Internal Affairs of Cangas del Narcea, states that "Cangas del Narcea has already received more than a dozen inquiries from families with children and couples interested in learning more details, especially about housing and employment, to consider moving permanently to the municipality."
