Millo e Landras and Somnia received the trophy thanks to the vote of the public present at the event. The 2024 edition has once again given the competition a multi-fund approach, by supporting projects that have received funding from European shared management funds.

  • Millo e Landras, from Galicia, and Somnia, from Valencia, are the winners of the second edition of the "Europe Feels" competition.
  • Their projects have been co-financed by European CAP funds, thanks to which they have been able to develop their respective activities.
  • The annual European Funds communication event "Europe Feels" rewards projects that benefit from European funds to help them achieve visibility.

Four rural projects were shortlisted in the second edition of the "Europe Feels" 2024 project competition. These initiatives are co-financed by the European Agricultural Funds (EAF), which are used by the CAP,EAFRD, and EAGF .

Specifically, the selected initiatives were: Millo e Landras , Trasdeza Natur , Abeiro da Loba , and Somnia . Among all of them, the winners were Millo e Landras (A Coruña, Galicia) and Somnia (Culla, Valencia). Millo e Landras won the #EuropeFeelsGreen category, and Somnia won the #EuropeFeelsClose category.

The awards ceremony took place on June 20 and 21 in Cádiz, Andalusia, at a gala held in Chiclana, attended in person by the four selected primary sector projects, along with the other 14 nominated projects from other funding sources.

Winners

The projects that took home the trophy were voted on by the audience in the auditorium, following a presentation by the finalists. The finalists explained how and why their project was created, and where it stands. The two rural projects that won over the audience were:

1. Millo e Landras – Category #EuropaFeelsGreen

This is a green point for the local and sustainable management of organic matter in Vilasantar (A Coruña, Galicia). Marta and Víctor are the founders of this farm, which began operating 15 years ago. Incorporating an innovative and environmental vision, they focused on the most ecologically friendly agriculture possible with direct local sales. With European funding, in 2021 they launched the green point for the management of organic matter; an innovative circular economy project in which the population of Vilasantar and nearby businesses actively participate.

2. Somnia – Category #EuropeFeelsClose

Somnia is a company that offers various psychoeducational services for children and their families, with activities that address social, emotional, and educational aspects. The project was created to facilitate family-life balance in various towns in the Valencian Community, such as Culla (Castellón). Families there had to move to larger towns or change their daily routines to balance work and family life.
