The app you've been waiting for to have all the relevant agrometeorological information for agricultural development at your fingertips.

June 21, 2016

The Directorate General for Rural Development and Forestry Policy has made available to the sector the SiAR app, a smartphone and tablet application for the Agroclimatic Information System for Irrigation (SiAR), comprised of 461 agrometeorological stations located in rural areas (361 of which are owned by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment).

The SiAR app allows for the management of an irrigation program by calculating the water requirements and irrigation doses required for more than 100 crops (herbaceous and woody), with customizable parameters (location, soil type, irrigation system, sowing date, or planting frame, among others).

It also offers the possibility of consulting real-time agrometeorological data useful to the agricultural sector as a whole, sourced from SiAR stations: temperature, humidity, rainfall, radiation, and wind speed, which can be taken into account, for example, when applying phytosanitary products.

The aim is to promote the economic, social, and environmental sustainability of agricultural activity and society as a whole.

This app is now available for download for Android devices on Google Play and is expected to be available later this month for iOS via the Apple Store.
