June 21, 2021. The National Rural Network is following and participating in the paradigm shift in urban-rural relations that is occurring as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The possible arrival of teleworking seems to have opened a door through which to unite the rural and urban worlds.
- The National Rural Network locates several towns offering housing and/or employment to attract new residents.
- The pandemic has fostered the creation of digital platforms that track and publish housing and job offers in rural areas.
However, at the RRN, we are aware that there is a tendency to idealize rural areas, which are still very fragile in terms of guaranteed coverage of certain basic services such as healthcare, education, and broadband internet. Access to housing is also limited. And, of course, this entails a change in mentality that goes beyond a shift in working and living habits.
Even so, there are towns in rural Spain that are willing to facilitate access to housing and, to the extent possible, promote jobs to contribute to the repopulation of their rural areas.
Current offers
In collaboration with Rural Promo – a rural consultancy firm that created the “ Yo me vuelvo al campo ” platform to facilitate the exchange of goods and services in rural areas in Spain and South America – the RRN has identified the following active and fully valid offers for living and/or working in the following rural areas:
- Paradela del Sil Town Council (Ourense ): The Town Council is offering five newly built homes for 150 euros per month . Priority will be given to applicants from families with young children.
