Women and young people who have recently joined the agricultural sector have priority in the allocation of accommodation.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food has opened the application period for young people interested in training placements on farms and livestock operations within the Cultiva 2026 program. Applications can be submitted through the ministry's online portal. The application period will run until September 15th, inclusive. The placements will begin in January 2027.
The catalog of the 300 farms offering training placements, with detailed information about each one, is available on the ministry's website at this link . It also includes a search tool that allows users to select placements by region, dates, and agricultural production.
The accommodation, food, and transportation expenses for the young people during their participation are covered by the Cultiva program, which this year has an initial budget of €1.2 million, which may be increased. The young participants will also receive compensation for expenses incurred when their farm is managed by a third party.
The model farms are distributed throughout all autonomous communities, and stand out for being benchmarks from the point of view of innovation, production means, business model and social, environmental and climatic characteristics.
The stays offered are organized by the collaborating entities of the program, which are the Agrarian Association of Young Farmers (Asaja), Association of Breeders of Celtic Pig Livestock (Asoporcel), Agri-food Cooperatives of Spain, Coordinator of Farmers and Livestock Organizations (COAG), San Isidro Micas Foundation (FSIM), Union of Small Farmers and Livestock Breeders (UPA), and Union of Unions of Farmers and Livestock Breeders (UDU).
Requirements
The training placements of the Cultiva program are available to all young agricultural professionals who own farms up to 40 years old and to those 41 or older who have been established in the last five years.
Young people can choose farms with the same or different production levels as their own, regardless of the sector, and located anywhere in the country. If they have participated in the program in previous years, they cannot attend farms they have already visited.

The pilot project started in 2020 with 13 participants in eight autonomous communities and participation has grown progressively in the following calls: 54 participants in 2021, 92 in 2022, 202 in 2023, another 202 in 2024 and 363 in 2026 -this year's program is still in execution-.
Priority for women
The percentage of women among participants has ranged from 18% to nearly 30% in recent years. Women, along with more recently enrolled young people and those who have not participated in previous years, are given priority in the allocation of places.
Furthermore, the stay plans submitted by the collaborating entities must guarantee the presence of farms led by women, a necessary requirement for them to be admitted.
