The official presentation of the 3rd Regional Melon Fair, FERIMEL 2016, took place yesterday at the San Agustín Market in Toledo. AMFAR and the Membrilla City Council, organizers of the 3rd FERIMEL, presented the details of this event, which aims to highlight production, improve marketing, and foster a melon culture.
FERIMEL's programming includes a technical component, consisting of roundtable discussions, a fruit and vegetable market, and field visits; a gastronomic component, featuring melon tastings, cooking master classes, and recipe competitions; a sports component, with a paddle tennis tournament and a cycling route; and a children's component, with activities aimed at the little ones, including popular games, workshops, and competitions. Also noteworthy is the live broadcast from the town's Multipurpose Pavilion of the radio program Agropopular, hosted by César Lumbreras, which has a wide following among professionals in the agricultural sector.
FERIMEL 2016 boasts the participation of more than 50 exhibiting companies and a wide range of collaborating entities, maintaining the figures from the previous edition, when the event received more than 50,000 visitors. The biennial fair will make a firm commitment to internationalization, for which FERIMEL has established close collaboration with IPEX (Castilla-La Mancha Institute for Foreign Promotion), which has enabled FERIMEL to reach international buyers who will be able to close trade agreements with melon producers.
The FERIMEL website, www.ferimel.com, now offers all the useful information for exhibitors and visitors to learn the details of the Fair's features and new features.
