The Leader Illa de Menorca Association is working on finding solutions for the management of non-packaging agricultural plastic waste (silage bale films, nets, irrigation pipes, vegetable garden covers, etc.).
Following the completion of the Study on the management of agricultural plastics in Menorca (December 2025), a pilot collection experience is being developed on collaborating farms, with the aim of defining a protocol for action and proposing possible solutions to the transitional situation until the effective implementation of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR/EPR) systems.
We are looking for experiences, initiatives, and models developed in any territory and field of activity that can provide practical solutions, especially in relation to:
- Models for collecting and managing this waste.
- Logistics systems: collection at origin, delivery points, transport and storage.
- Financing options, rates or co-payments.
- Alternatives to conventional plastics, such as biodegradable biofilms.
- Valuation methods and agreements with authorized managers.
- Good practices for the separation, cleaning and preparation of waste at the source.
- Campaigns, protocols or awareness and training actions.
We would especially appreciate the submission of documents, protocols, guides, technical specifications, projects or references to real experiences , as well as any information that may contribute to identifying replicable models.
The goal is to share knowledge and experiences to move towards more efficient and sustainable management systems for agricultural plastics .
