The European CAP Network establishes three new thematic groups

The new working groups will focus on "Skills development for a sustainable and prosperous agricultural sector," "CAP Strategic Plans: Monitoring Committees," and "Design and implementation of eco-schemes in the new CAP Strategic Plans."


  • A Focus Group is a small group of experts that is created to find practical solutions to a specific issue.
  • The new working groups will focus on "Skills development for a sustainable and prosperous agricultural sector," "CAP Strategic Plans: Monitoring Committees," and "Design and implementation of eco-schemes in the new CAP Strategic Plans."

Thematic working groups, or Thematic Groups (TG), are specific groups of experts formed to find practical solutions to a specific need or issue.

The European CAP Network   ( European CAP Network ) has just created 3 new working groups with the following themes :

In addition to seeking solutions to the sector's specific challenges, the Thematic Groups facilitate the participation of rural and agricultural stakeholders in determining new rural and agricultural development policies. Therefore, the CAP Network encourages, stimulates, and invites all stakeholders in the agricultural and rural sectors to participate in them so that Spain is broadly and well represented.

Characteristics

  1. WG on “Skills Development for a Sustainable and Prosperous Agricultural Sector” :

  • Goals :
    • Identify the skills farmers want to acquire in response to new societal and market demands.
    • To discuss the potential contributions of the CAP Strategic Plans to the sector's retraining, with a view to formulating recommendations to policymakers at national and EU levels.
    • To provide a space for people working in agriculture, both self-employed and employed, to share real-life experiences and challenges in terms of skills development, training, and rewarding career advancement opportunities.

  1. Working Group on “CAP Strategic Plans: Monitoring Committees”

  • Goals :
    • To share experiences in the establishment and operation of current Monitoring Committees, including lessons learned from previous programming periods.
    • Identify and share potential best practices on the operation of Monitoring Committees (from the current and previous programming periods).
    • To establish how the National CAP Networks can effectively support the functioning of the Monitoring Committees.

  1. Working Group on “Design and implementation of eco-schemes in the new CAP Strategic Plans”

  • Goals :
    • Share experiences on different approaches to eco-schemes design in terms of prioritized environmental objectives.
    • Explore current approaches and their lessons.
    • Explore farmers' reactions and identify success stories, as well as common challenges and problems
    • Develop recommendations for future implementation of the ecological scheme.

Requirements

Registration for any of the Thematic Groups requires knowledge of each topic, as well as a firm commitment to participate in both meetings and their related activities.
