Open days on sustainability and the future of the dairy livestock sector , in which the results of the carbon footprint calculation in 15 farms will be shared and practical solutions to move towards more sustainable production models will be discussed.
The series will be held over three sessions , with the option of attending in person or online : February 10th in Ames (A Coruña), February 11th in Villar (Asturias), and February 12th in Ribadeo (Lugo). The sessions will feature the participation of local, regional, and national government bodies, who will address the role of the new Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and public policies in the sustainability of the dairy sector . The program includes participatory activities aimed at developing a White Guide to sustainability for the sector , as well as opportunities for exchange between farmers, technicians, and industry representatives. Each session will conclude in the afternoon with visits to livestock facilities, giving participants firsthand experience with innovation and the circular bioeconomy in the region.
The LAKTIS project, "Innovation and Knowledge Transfer in Sustainability for the Dairy and Livestock Sector," has received funding for knowledge exchange and training and information activities at a supra-regional level, aimed at the agri-food and forestry sector, within the framework of the Strategic Plan for the Common Agricultural Policy (PEPAC) 2023-2027. The project is co-financed 43% by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) and 57% by the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food. The total amount of funding is €325,522.20.
